Back to Class: A Talk for Students on Careers, Choices, and the Changing Shape of Work
What a pleasure to be back at Dalhousie University, speaking with students in an Innovation and Knowledge Management class as part of the Faculty of Management's new Curriculum Days initiative.
Dal has been a big part of my life. I did a Master's there, Dal has been a long-term client, I've served on advisory boards, hired many Dal students, partnered on many things, and my oldest son is now in his third year. Universities are vital, and I loved this opportunity.
In the session, we talked about careers, work, making life decisions, and some of the things I've learned along the way.
I used a series of short, visual prompts to tell stories and encourage discussion. We talked about how the shape of work is changing, and I used the presentation itself as an example. I built it with AI, primarily using my voice and a folder of photographs, mostly while walking my dog or waiting at an airport gate.
I've shared the presentation below. It's a little website rather than a conventional slide deck. The slides were prompts for stories and discussion, so some context is missing, but perhaps you'll find something useful in it.
